Post Surgery Recipes

Vita Clinics has, in conjunction with The National Obesity Forum, embarked on producing a series of easy to follow recipes for patients who have undergone weight loss surgery such as gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch. Hopefully any patient who has undergone bariatric surgery will know that their diet needs to change lifelong to both reduce complications and achieve/maintain long-term weight loss. However, eating the 'new way' is not easy!

We hope our recipes will help. They not only tell you how to prepare the meal from scratch but also show the nutritional content and appropriate portions which is crucially important. The recipes are downloadable meaning they can be printed. We will be continually adding new ones and there will be recipe releases around 'themes', for example seasonal/festive/holiday recipes. We will also be providing general eating and diet 'tips'.

Please see the recipes below and decide which ones tickle those taste-buds! Get cooking and here's to safe and enjoyable eating and a healthy lifestyle....

Working with the NOF in support of National Obesity Week running from 2nd – 8th November and entitled “DO YOU HAVE BODY MASS IMAGINATION ?” we have produced an 'average day' set of recipes incorporating breakfast, lunch and dinner to promote the concept of lifelong healthy eating following weight loss surgery:

Breakfast = Super Crunchy Muesli

Lunch = Green Bean, Noodle and Prawn Salad

Dinner = Low Fat Slow Cooker Chicken and Vegetables

General recipe selection:

Spicy Chicken Skewers

Shepherds Pie

Courgette & Oat Bran Loaf

Slow Cooker Beef

Our thanks to Dr Andrew Hartland, Consultant Bariatric Physician who originally came up with the idea! Also to Jane Edmonds, Specialist Bariatric Dietician for her work in actually producing them.
